Last weekend I had the great opportunity of seeing DEICIDE live with Skinless, Despised Icon, and others at the Opera House in Toronto. Fucking amazing show. Zach and I ended up having beers with Glen Benton of Deicide before the show, it was pretty awesome. Got my ticket autographed as well. I also met a few people, got a few phone numbers, and I'm supposed to hook up with this married couple who wants to hang out (the wife was kinda all over me) and they have friends that want members for their band. Weirdness.
The show was excellent, a ton of death metal madness. Dudes were diving into the crowd from atop the stage speakers, the first guy managed to land right on my left side and left me with a nice mark down my back/shoulder/arm. I wish I could get a picture of it, it's almost gone now. I managed to hold my own in the pit all night (craziest pit i've seen ever, even since Lamb Of God) and for Deicide I was at center stage holding on to the railing for dear life. Kicked, punched, elbowed in the head, two fights, and lots of random feet in the face meant I was hurting for a few days after. BUT IT WAS ALL COMPLETELY WORTH IT and I would murder all my friends (what little I have) and family (what little they are) just to go back in time to re-live that night.
BEST. NIGHT. EVER. (Totally makes up for missing NIN backstage)
Today I get to hit up this new bird conservatory thinger something that's in Niagara Falls and then go out for a nice dinner with a friend. 23 sucks already.
I am done school in a week, then I get to start working fulltime as an electrician. So far, I love the work that it involves, I hope I enjoy the job itself. Way more fun than working with fucking computers all day, or doing tech-support / call center shit, so I'm happy.
Meshuggah's Catch Thirty Three is amazing, and I've been stuck on The Refused's album "The Shape Of Punk To Come" a few years too late. New The Red Chord is awesome, still want to hear the new Nile, enjoying some Skinless and Deicide as well lately. Haven't been working on music much myself, but I have re-configured the drumkit for more of a Tomas Haake feel. I've been playing the 7string Ibanez more than the drums lately, I'm starting to do really well on guitar. I'm also looking into a few death metal band placements as a vocalist, apparently my screams/growls are better than I thought. Question is, do I have the time for all this? I hope I can work it all in.
A LIFE ONCE LOST'S new album HUNTER comes out on the 28th of this month. I CAN'T FUCKING WAIT. Will they tour 'round St Catharines, or even Toronto again? I sure fucking hope so, it's been over a year since I saw them here at L3, and it was one of the best shows ever as well. They're the fucking shit. I knew they'd make it.
I think that's about it, I'm heading out to do the best I can to avoid the phone today.
